Deadpool is back and better , our favourite anti-hero assassin is back and bigger. I would have had my review out earlier ,but I have been busy ( and broke ). It's going to be spoiler free so I am keeping it short and simple. If you loved or liked the first Deadpool , there is a 90% you are going to like this as much or even more.
Deadpool 2 is a good film but it's not for everyone, it condenses all the unique things about Deadpool 1, crass humor, bloody r-rated violence and 4th wall references and ratchets them to 11. It follows our titular hero Deadpool who comes in conflict with a hero from the future Cable who has come to stop a future apocalypse , the problem is the future Apocalypse is a child, a child who has become Deadpool's responsibility. In response to Cable's arrival he assembles the mighty X-force to match him , who have one of my favourite twists/punchline in years.
What is cool about Cable is that he's more of a antagonist instead of a villain , he has a great design and good motivations and at times incredibly easy to root for ( also Josh Brolin is eatttinngg this year, thanos and now cable , his agent better get him those checks soon ) . The only issue I can say is the story is bit run off the mill , and the jokes are coming so hard and fast that they become a bit overwhelming , with the same applying to the comic book references. However the X-Men cameo was fantastic.
So the rundown , how is the action ? Pretty good and well choreographed , the best sequence has to go with Domino ( Zazie Beets ) her showing off her powers. New characters , none are bad per say but no one truly shines , domino and cable are very cool and like-able but that's it. The post credits are super clever and a treat well worth waiting for when the movie ends. The world design and CGI are good , Deadpool's world has a dirty feel to it , grungy looking world and the cgi holds up well enough, nothing special but very noticeable still. Performances are good, everyone feels believable , though the constant jokes make it hard at times to follow, the jokes are great but are being released at an incredibly fast rate so can be missed or a bit overwhelming .Again, I can't go on about the story cause in all honestly , there's nothing special about it , very run off the mill , but solid enough.
Deadpool 2 is a very fun , enjoyable ride , but it's sadly a bit forgettable, Deadpool 1 was like tasting ice cream for the first time, Deadpool 2 feels like the 100th time of taking , it's still nice but not as memorable, even though it has multiple flavours and toppings added to it , you won't think much about it after , as much as you enjoyed it. Solid 8
