As our foremost genre of music keeps making waves around the world and been the center of critically acclaimed playlists, on popular music streaming platforms. American based streaming service, Netflix – has caught up with the program to help us stream our movie content, with the help of Film One distribution company. And has made our box office movies available to Nigerian film lovers around the world, which has added more value to the growth of Nollywood in the

movie making business around the globe.

Below are the Top 10 watchable Nigerian films available on Netflix in no order:

ISOKEN – directed & produced by the very talented Jadesola Osiberu, has a fantastic story line and an excellent performance from the actors who brought Jade’s story to life. When it came out, it was highly regarded as the underrated version of the wedding party. So, it’s basically the film that corrects all the mistakes of TWP.

LION HEART – produced and directed by Genevive Nnaji, lion heart is an impeccable film. With a star-studded cast that featured Nkem Owoh, Pete Edochie among others, and the cameo roles of Peter Okoye (Psquare/Mr P) and Chibuzor Orji (Phyno). The movie is nothing short of sheer brilliance. Will 100% recommend.

UP NORTH – upon arrival, received bad press from movie lovers because of the age factor of the lead actor of the film (Olubankole Wellington – BankyW). In terms of content however, it paid attention to what the nysc scheme is all about, and the important vices that should be carefully investigated in the northern part of Nigeria about the girl child. Backed up by solid financing and commendable actors e.g. Kanayo O. Kanayo, this movie told its story in the best conceivable way it could.

THE WEDDING PARTY 1&2 – a new dawn in the Nollywood scene started with the release of this film. Part one was near perfect with the golden touch of Mo Abudu’s production company and Kemi Adetiba's directing skills. Also showcased the excellent chemistry between The Wellington’s. It showcased fantastic actors in it. Worthy to be regarded as a classic Romantic comedy movie that appeals to both the old and young of the Nigerian society.

BLING LAGOSIANS – exciting film with massive potential but had over the top script writing and acting when it could have been simple in all honesty. A valid plot that delivers quality life lessons. But was vastly predictable from start to finish.

93 DAYS – based on a true-life story, tells an informative sweet-sour tale of the Ebola virus that was rampant in Africa and was about to have a clean swoop on the Nigerian population, but was curbed due to the help and directive of the Late Dr Stella Adadevoh. It starts off slow, but certainly picked up with the talented actors in the film, with the likes of Bimbo Akintola, Somkele Iyamah, etc.

MOMS AT WAR – a cliché film, random story line, could have been better in the execution. But it shows flashes of excitement with Funke Akindele’s acting and keeps the audience entertained. A film to kick back and while away time to.

NEW MONEY – cut from the same cloth of Moms at War, as it centers around the character, played by the promising Jemima Osunde and with a stellar cast made up of likes of Kate Henshaw, Falz, and Osas Ighodaro who made this film worthwhile and believable to the related audiences.

LAGOS REAL FAKE LIFE – a film that cannot be ignored in all uprightness, as it lives up to the movie title. Shows glimpses of valid comedy skits which were sometimes forced but engaging in all entirety.

CHIEF DADDY – from the stables of Ebony Life films (The wedding party) showed so much promise in its press releases and roll out but was indeed average but gains massive points with its relevant plot and comic relief.

Worthy Mentions away from this list will include Falz Experience, King of Boys, and Fifty. Great content among these three movies, which sheds great light on how far our film industry has come. In terms of production, Acting and script writing.
